Kris Lyon - Ceramic Artist
I’m a ceramic artist who enjoys making individual pieces relating to fun, femininity, social issues, nature and architecture - I also like to create domestic ware. My practice encompasses hand building, slip casting and I’m currently developing my wheel throwing skills.
Ceramics, with it’s huge capacity for expression and endless versatility has captivated me for close to 4 decades and I see it continuing to do so for some time to come. I’ve experienced so many wonderful opportunities to appreciate and connect with ceramics, arts and it’s people - makers and supporters. It took me a long time to call myself an artist and now I believe that’s the most accurate description.
My simple site is a portfolio; with a desire to connect with people who are interested, and to develop a site for sales of one-off pieces in the future. For now, please contact me by email if you’d like to know more about my work.
Thanks for looking at my website. best wishes, Kris Lyon

Lo Strato: Time in Tuscany
28 September-20 October 2021
Monday-Friday 9-5
A Block Gallery. University of Southern Queensland
Toowoomba, Australia
The exhibition is a body of work completed mostly in 2021, after attending an artist-in-residency program at La Macina di San Cresci, Greve-in-Chianti, Tuscany in May 2019. In a truly immersive experience and magical setting close to magnificent cities, beautiful mountainside villages, olive groves and vineyards, I responded to my surroundings, making a series of small dwellings to acknowledge the many centuries of humanity who continue to build, live and work on top of Etruscan and Roman ruins.
I wish the Directors and friends of La Macina di San Cresci, and Italy in general, health and happiness.
